I honestly think sites like twitter are complete and utter shite. The people who use the site seem to be possessed with the ridiculous belief that what they say is either funny, enlightening or a mixture of the two. It's a sad watering hole for the deluded and self-centred twats who think the whole world revolves around them.

Removing linefeeds from the text that people type, removes paragraphs (which make text easier to read). Please leave them in!

Twitter is crap. It tends to be for narcissists and the egocentric among the population to tell everyone else the mundane... e.g. "I'm having tomato soup for tea". I once stopped using ALL media for 6 months, and it was amazing. During that time was the tsunami. I met up with a friend and he said he was worried about his friend in Thailand and I asked why? Then he told me about it. Because I had been re-sensitized (in contrast to the usual de-sensitization brought on by too much media) I was very emotionally moved. Hearing news directly from a friend face to face is far superior than ANY other medium. I'm not against the internet, indeed it is incredible... however with any tool it's about knowing when to use it. I currently can't stomach the negative sides of Twitter. It's for the egocentrics like I said, and I don't like people like that. So it's hard for me to be on Twitter or Facebook, indeed I deleted my accounts. Avoid the egocentric maniacs at all cost I say!

Im still trying to fathom Twitter. But irrespective of what you or I think Twitter is BIG - and growing like Topsy ... so much so that its servers are nearly always over capacity. I have over 555 followers in one account and about the same totaled for my other accounts. You do not need to be an addict or spend hours on Twitter to get a large following. In fact I got my followers in about 4 days - spending less than an hour a day. Most of the time was not spent on Twitter but on booting up and adjusting my automated Twitter Following software - which I got from http:/bit.ly/sexily There are lots of other automated programs around but this on seems to work best. It is not without flaws but it still does a great job and is real easy to use. Beats spending hours on Twitter of course.

If you look at the pages of "successful" Twitter users (i.e. those with large followings, let's say 500+) you can easily see that most of these people seem to be very active on Twitter. They spend large amounts of their time on the site, posting Tweets and no doubt responding to and reading tweets. It's like those people on public forums, you know, the ones who have amassed thousands of posts on a single site. The sort of effort which takes monumental time and effort. It makes you question the value of the service, because if in order to become successful at Twitter I have to become addicted and spend so much of my time online, am I really ahead? I don't think so. Twitter, FB and other social sites, with their emphasis on people re-posting news/articles, have created a group of people who mainly like to be in the spotlight. This is what it's all about, what its always been about -- look at me, check me out, I am so smart/cool, etc. Twitter especially, breeds addicts who are specialists at being addicts ("social media experts"). It's so sad.

Social websites like orkut, face book, twitter etc all crap just waiting people time with no benefits on final analysis People who are using these kind of sites are heavy addicts spending hours in front of computer, mobiles etc without caring about time, energy etc Twitter is heavily promoted by celebrities & other government people who are making people idiots rather than helping to get out of addiction. Sites like http://www.istwittercrap.com/ is very useful to wake addicts from their twitter world.
